Winter Wonderland & High altitude fun

Good evening was had by all last time out...shame the Duke of Earl could not make it - but last minute change of venue didn't help that one... Still rules are rules and 100% attendance to all those there and the Duke is now on 0%! (Harsh) Clive too of course is starting off on a 0% attendance with some plain excuse about being all loved-up.

Writing about this venue on such a cold and Wintery night when the country was at a standstill is a little weird as we have now been 5 times in the history of the FFCC so scoring getting a bit pointless other than to say service excellent, food excellent, table position (normal - away from the crowds we might avoid). Thanks again Last Viceroy.

Conversation - well judging by member feedback seemingly rather good this month... with interesting twists on the top 10 theory... Ian's shocking revelation of deep affection for Kevin Costner Wolf adventures did catch many out but no worse than Lord Stone's fascination with Mama Mia...

Rob's high altitude adventures got a interesting twist which all members I am sure will be interested to here the outcum of. I doubt there will be space on the blog for a full report but we are expecting pictures!

Next month's venue is current unresolved... three suggestions being investigated and Reading still may be on as a rearranged fixture from this month... 5th of February it is though so watch your Blackberry's for the meeting invite...

And don't forget only 343 days to Christmas!

The Chairman.

FFC in 2010: Happy New Year.

Happy New Year to all our Members!

And (in keeping with the Curry Clubs communication strategy) it is also just to tell you that the Curry Committee is working on improved admin services for members to prevent those miscommunications with the Mrs!

We will also be running an attendance league table with penalties for none attendance!

Also we will be arranging a Summer Party for other halves (thanks Tom for offering to open up Stone Towers for the event!) and would like to remind members that we will shortly be opening a youth section!

We will also be organising that long lost trip to West Country but we will pick good weather weekend and we will have a proper Christmas Bash on Swallow Street in London. (Yes I know it's a long way off.)

Here's to a fabulous 2010. Hope it is a good one for all and their clans.

Signing off as I am away to the frozen north for a few days... I maybe gone some time.

Homer.

Welcome to 2010...8th January gathering...Hobgoblin and Royal Tandoori

January's gathering - is in Reading...for the Maidenhead crowd you can do this from the railway station and walking...!

Meet in the second best pub in Reading (the 'Goblin" has only 3000 Real Ales!) - but be warned it isn't a big place so getting there late for this one could be a mistake as you will have to stand outside ??

Meet at 8pm for 8:30pm at the Hobgoblin on Broad Street (No. 2) then a short hop to the Royal Tandoori on Duke Street (No.8)

Trains from Maidenhead to save you looking it up: 19:21 arrives 19:45 plus a walk or 19:40 arrives 19:56

January 8th 2010

The Cinnamon Tree was good but still only ranked a 7.5 on the curry house monitor...we had been warned about overly attentive service but good food...and merely got good service and good food... Great ambiance and quite attractive decor..good stuff.

All the starters are the same price but the Onion Bhajee offers the best value...but everything else looked and seemed to be very good, and tasted it too I am told by fellow members. The main courses were quite a selection...sticking to the Chef's Specialty List and the Lamb Jalfrezi was very good indeed...

Good food, good service and good decor...can't really go wrong...oh, but Parking was tight AGAIN. Less garden more parking might well be a good move.

Banter normal rubbish...numbers 5 and plans for January laid and detailed below...make a note...

... we chatted about January's gathering..and thought Reading would be an interesting addition to our monthly curry extravaganza..but we also realised the first Friday is the 1st January and the collective thought was it was probably going to clash with other arrangments or just plain hangovers! So we are going for the 8th instead - so pulled out the old diary/pda/Blackberry and write it in now...otherwise you will forget...go on DO IT NOW...

Details to follow - have a great Xmas & New Year and here's hoping that 2010 is a better one than 2009 for all. See you soon.
